• Master Zhang — Calligrapher & the Soul of U-Lining

Master Zhang, known by his pen name Mohen, was born in Hunan, China, in 1973. As a child, he studied calligraphy under a traditional Xiucai master—one of the last of his kind—learning the discipline of Tang kaishu and the expressive freedom of semi-cursive script. For over thirty years, he has pursued calligraphy as a dual path of artistic expression and spiritual cultivation. As a core member of the Guo Da Xianren Temple, his brushwork reflects the quiet atmosphere of meditation and a deep reverence for nature. His style is distinctive—spontaneous yet steady, free yet grounded. His works are treasured by spiritual seekers, art enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a moment of tranquility in a chaotic world.

I am not a calligrapher like my father, but I am a storyteller and a believer in the power of art. I’ve learned photography, website development, and how to communicate with friends overseas—I use all these skills to help more people see my father’s calligraphy. I handle everything from photography and the website to client communication and international logistics. My role is to ensure that when you receive a piece of U-Lining calligraphy, you feel the same awe and joy as the vast landscapes of the Eastern continent, surrounded by mountains and rivers, and in harmony with the heavens and earth.
